Remembering Your Worth

Today, remembering our worth was and still is possibly the hardest thing to do.  We hear on commercials and in advertisements that diamonds are forever or that diamonds are a girls best friend.  We see all around us the importance attributed to status and wealth.  People rush to get the expensive brands and the latest styles and trends as if to say "look at me. I'm important."

Life is worth so much more than Louis Vuitton bags, Coach loafers, or Cartier bracelets.  You are worth so much more to be deduced to material object.  At the end of the day, when we leave this earth those things are left behind.  Our eulogy and funeral service will not be a list of how many name brand things we owned.  Instead, it will be filled with stories of how good of a person we were and the legacy we left behind (hopefully).

Earlier this week, I witnessed a loved one dismiss someone's worth without attempting a meaningful interaction with the person.  Rather than get to know them that person formulated in their mind who the person they just met was, and let me tell you it was negative.  No benefit of the doubt was given and the whole ordeal left me feeling disappointed, hurt and embarrassed.  What a blessing it is to know that Jesus doesn't look at us in that way.

Our worth was so much that Jesus died on the cross for us.  The Bible says that if he clothes the valleys with lilies and provides for the sparrows then how much more does he love us? It is easy to lose sight of our true worth when we pay attention to the thoughts and opinions of others.  When we seek validation from other we will find that we always fall short.  At times we can be our own worst critics.  Instead of looking at ourselves with love when we look in the mirror in the morning, we instead have regret, harsh criticisms, ridicules and maybe even insults.

One main take away from this blog post that I want you to remember is that comparison is the thief of joy.  There is no exception.  If we look at ourselves and compare our lives to that of others we will never have joy and we will never see our true value.  Jesus saw our true worth, and for that he made the ultimate sacrifice.  There is no life goal, house, car, career, jewelry, name brand or anything else that can ever add to our true worth.  No matter where you see yourself in life in light of where you see others, just be happy that you are not where you were!  You were made for such a time as this and you are exactly where you need to be!

Pray this with me: "Lord I ask that you remind me and help me to see your love for me daily.  Restore to me the joy of salvation and let me see what you see when I look in the mirror, because only then will I be able to look unto others with your love and extend unto others your compassion."

You are truly an invaluable asset to this world-- there is no calculator that can determine how special you truly are.  Just think about it there is no other YOU! You have a unique identity, fingerprint, and DNA sequence that God gave to you and you only! Don't discount what you bring to this world based on what you see around.  There is so much more to you than meets the eye, and the health of your mind, body and spirit counts on you understanding that very fact! Be uniquely you-- unapologetically-- in God's love and grace!

Always remember your worth, you deserve to be treated kindly—included by yourself! 😊 | You deserve better, You re worth it, Worth quotes
